- A family is now seeking justice for the death of a mother and her baby during a failed C-section
- It was allegedly caused by a doctor who turned out to be drunk
- Police found that the "doctor was drunk while on duty."
A 22-year-old pregnant mother, Kamini Chachi, was admitted to a public hospital last November 26.
KAMI learned that at the time of admission, she was already in labor.
One of the doctors of the hospital, considered a senior one, Paresh Lakhani, performed the C-section operation.
According to The Asian Parent's report, the baby died at birth.
Not only that, the mom was also bleeding heavily.
Because of this, the family decided to transfer the mother to a private hospital.
However, she didn't make it as while they were on their way to the hospital, she died.
Family of the mother alleged that Lakhani performed the operation while he was drunk.
They reported to the police that he was intoxicated, and the succeeding breathalyzer test indeed revealed his intoxication.
“The police found that the doctor was drunk while on duty. He was first booked under the Prohibition Act and was arrested. His blood sample was sent for testing," a police recounted to India Today.
Investigation on the incident is still ongoing.
