- For President Rodrigo Duterte, Catholic members should not go to church
- He accused some of the priests and bishops for being “corrupt”
- The netizens shared their opinions regarding the issue
It has been recently reported by KAMI that President Rodrigo Duterte shared during a speech that Catholics should build their own chapel at home instead of going to the Church and pay for the priests or bishops. KAMI learned that the remark of the President had made rounds online.
“You build a chapel on your own house and pray there. You don't have to go to the church to pay for these idiots,” President Duterte said as he accused some bishops of being corrupt.
The President also made it clear that he believes in his own God.
“Sabi ko: 'I do not believe in your stupid God.' I have my own god, in my estimation. Hindi 'yan nangongolekta nang pera,” the President stated.
The netizens shared their take on the remarks made by the President. Here are some of their comments from the Facebook page of GMA News:
“I am Catholic and I will never ever switch Religion. But it's about time someone tell this priest/bishops stop using our church for your personal profit.”
“Im a catholic but I have doubts on the culture. Btw, ano nga pala laman ng bible? You cannot find God on church alone. God is everywhere!”
“I'm a Catholic but this is actually true, most of the priests today (not all) have more sins than normal people.”
“Reminds me of what our National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal did hundreds of years ago. Remember the Noli and Fili?!! Sino mga kontrabida dun?”
“Wala bang masasabi si PRRD tungkol kay Quiboloy na may-ari raw ng Earth at nakapaglakbay na sa Solar System?”
The Philippines is a predominantly Catholic country. However, it did not hinder the President to condemn some priests and bishops for allegedly being “hypocrite”. The President had also made a remark about “God is stupid”.
