- Actor Coco Martin broke his silence over the result of ABS-CBN and DILG meeting
- The two parties had a dialogue to iron the current issue of “Ang Probinsyano”
- A joint resolution of the controversy was released and Coco reacted to it
Kapamilya actor Coco Martin expressed his side on the outcome of ABS-CBN and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) meeting regarding the heavy controversy that “Ang Probinsyano” is currently facing
KAMI learned that the top-rating drama series was accused of giving bad image to the Philippine National Police (PNP) because of its “negative portrayal” of the armed forces.
On November 21, the teleserye’s director and lead actor Coco Martin personally had a dialogue with DILG Secretary Eduardo Año inside the Camp Crame.
It can be noted that Año and his undersecretary initially appealed to the show to change its plot or they will file legal complaints against ABS-CBN.
During the meeting at Camp Crame, the two sides agreed that the teleserye will continue to air on television while its lead character named Cardo Dalisay will continue to be a “police officer with integrity.”
The PNP emphasized in its statement that it is necessary for individuals to show support and respect to the established organization.
Because of the agreement, the earlier threats of filing legal complaints against the show as well as the withdrawal of logistical support of PNP were already lifted.
"Naipaliwanag namin yung side namin na itong mga ginagawa namin sa teleserye ay, kumbaga, inspirasyon para sa amin, para sa aming manunuod, and then naipaliwanag din nila yung side nila,” Coco quipped.
"Ang ikinaganda nito sa lahat ng pag-uusap namin ngayon, nagkaayos, nagkapaliwanagan ng mga bawat punto. Kaya ang ano po namin ngayon ay magtulungan kung ano ang mas ikabubuti at ikagaganda,” he added.
