- Former Chief PNP Ronald Dela Rosa expressed his sentiments over the current issue of “Ang Probinsyano”
- It can be noted that the teleserye is facing heavy controversy for the “bad image” that it gives to the police
- The former top cop also mentioned about the portrayals of NPA roles
Former Chief of Philippine National Police (PNP) Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa took a swipe at the teleserye, “Ang Probinsyano” over the heavy controversy that it is currently facing.
KAMI learned that the top-rating show has been accused by current PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde of being “unfair” to the armed forces.
The high-ranking cop said that with the bad portrayal of policemen roles in the drama series, it is allegedly creating a bad image to public.
Bato, who served the PNP as its top official for two years, expressed that a lot has changed regarding the plot of “Ang Probinsyano.”
He claimed that during his term, the major roles of police in the said ABS-CBN show were for their benefit.
“Nagtataka ako sa ‘Probinsyano,’” the aspiring Senator began.
“Bakit noong panahon na ako ang chief PNP, ang gaganda naman ng portrayal nila sa buhay ng pulis? Sinusundan nila ‘yung ating mga accomplishment... ‘yung mga pangyayari,” he continued.
Because of the sudden “change” of plot, Bato noticed that the show has made PNP's high-ranking officials as members of syndicates.
He also pointed out that the show seemed to have given the spotlight to those who are members of the New People’s Army or NPA.
“Bakit ngayon ginawa na nilang sindikato ‘yung chief PNP?” the former chief quipped.
“Ang sikat ngayon sa palabas nila, ‘yung mga (New People’s Army),” he added.
In a previous article by KAMI, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) posted a new and serious threat to the show if its plot will not be changed.
Ang Probinsyano is a primetime drama series of ABS-CBN that is top billed by actor Coco Martin. Aside from the controversy involving the police, it also faced a lot of issues such as the unauthorized use of Dantes’ family picture.
