- A Facebook post claimed that Ferdinand Marcos was listed as Guinness World Records’ “Most Brilliant President in History”
- However, the post was debunked by a French news agency, AFP
- Marcos was listed in Guinness’ “Greatest Robbery of a Government”
A social media post went viral saying that the late President Ferdinand Marcos was allegedly honoured by Guinness World Records. However, KAMI learned from ABS-CBN News that no such title was given to the late President.
In a Facebook post, a photo was shared showing that Marcos was Guinness’ “Most Brilliant President in History”. The user even wrote in the caption, “Hindi nila mapapantayan man lang ang mga achievements ni Apo… Kaya tuloy ang paninira at pambabaligtad sa katotohanan.”
However, as reported by Inquirer, according to Agence France Presse (AFP), Marcos do not hold the aforementioned title.
“No accolade for “World’s Most Brilliant President” exists for Marcos on the Guinness World Records site,” they stated.“AFP has an account for the site and can access the whole list of its records.”
As mentioned by AFP, Marcos was listed in Guinness World Records for “Greatest robbery of a Government”.
The French news agency had detected the false viral post that had 2,700 reactions and 1,000 likes. It was posted by a page supporting former police chief and Senate candidate Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.
