The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) once again struck at the top-rating teleserye, “Ang Probinsyano” over its “bad and unfair" portrayal of the Philippine police.

KAMI learned that the said department, through Secretary Eduardo Año, already called out the Kapamilya drama series for the bad image it gives to the armed forces.

Eduardo initially cleared that the DILG does not want to stop the airing of “Ang Probinsyano” but just to change its story.

"Tinataya nila ang buhay nila diyan para mai-save kung sino man 'yung ise-save. Hindi natin gusto ipatigil, gusto nating baguhin 'yung kanilang plot,” he stressed.

On November 16, it was Assistant Secretary Jonathan Malaya who expressed his ire over the primetime show regarding the same controversy.

However, what made his statement different was his revelation that he will take into consideration the filing of legal actions against the teleserye.

This, Jonathan said, will really happen if “Ang Probinsyano” will not follow what they want which is to change plot in favor of the police.

The Assistant Secretary mentioned several cases to be filed such as the violation of Article 179 of the Revised Penal Code or the proper use of the PNP.

The disobedience in the Childrens Television Act of 1997 would also be one of the complaints since the ASEC claimed that the show is not ideal for kids.

“We are also looking at possible violations of the Childrens Television Act of 1997 because the show may have violated the National Council for Children's Television standards for television programs that should be child-friendly," Jonathan quipped.

In a previous article by KAMI, it was reported that the PNP allegedly issued a memorandum on Friday addressed to all offices and members of the armed forces to stop giving support to the teleserye.

Ang Probinsyano is a primetime action-drama series aired in ABS-CBN during weekdays. As of today, it remains as the most watched television program in the country recording a more or less 50% rating.
