- Imelda Marcos attended the hearing regarding her motion at Sandiganbayan
- She also explained why she was not present during the promulgation
- Marcos insisted that she did not know about the promulgation
Former first lady Imelda Marcos has appeared in Sandiganbayan for a hearing regarding her motion for 7 counts of graft. KAMI learned that the Sandiganbayan allowed Marcos to post bail for her temporary liberty. However, she cannot leave the premises of Sandiganbayan yet until the bank approves her P150,000 payment.
No decisions have been made yet regarding her conviction. The Sandiganbayan is still deciding on her post-conviction remedies or if she will be granted to post bail for her graft case.
Marcos also insisted that she did not know about the promulgation which happened last Friday.
"If I knew about it your honor, I would have been here. Even if I was sick, I would have come here,” Marcos quipped.
She said that their “cook” or helper received the letter about it but she was not informed, she just learned about it on the television when she woke up at 3 in the afternoon.
When questioned how she was able to attend her daughter, Imee Marcos’ party at the same night of the promulgation, she said that Imee begged her to come.
As previously reported by KAMI, the former first lady submitted a plea saying she was not able to attend the promulgation due to health reasons. She also cited 7 illness and that her doctor advised her to refrain from being stressed.
In another report by KAMI, Marcos was found “guilty” and was charged with 7 counts of graft which could sentence her for 6 to 11 years for each count.
