The country’s top-rating show “Ang Probinsyano” is once again under fire for the alleged bad impression that it gives to the name of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

KAMI learned that the said teleserye featured both ordinary and high-ranking officials of the armed forces who are involved in corruption and rampant use of power for their own interests.

Because of this, PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde expressed in a press briefing that what is shown in the drama series is “unfair” for the policemen in the country.

He also claimed that that the activities of PNP featured in the teleserye do not really happen inside the organization.

“Masyadong hindi na pangkaraniwan na nangyayari and it gives us a bad impression actually. It’s a bit unfair sa PNP when you portray yung mga ganung activity that doesn’t really happen sa organization namin,” the police official quipped.

“It’s very disturbing and para kasing ang nakikita ng mga tao na parang instant yung justice, parang it’s okay. It’s not. We are a nation of laws, not of men,” he added.

Since the images of the fictional PNP Chief and President of the Republic in “Ang Probinsyano” are evil and cold-blooded ones, Albayalde said it ruins how people see the supposedly respected offices in the Philippines.

Due to his complaints, the high-ranking official disclosed that he plans to take action and write to both the Movie Television Review and Classification Board (MTCRB) and the producer of the teleserye.

"In fact, even the president there naapektuhan, e. In fact, even the Office of the President naapektuhan,”

"We had a previous letter to MTRCB already last September. Now we will be writing both the production outfit and the MTRCB,”

Albayalde revealed what exactly he wants to happen to ensure that there will be no “unfairness” in the show.

He stated that he wants a more realistic portrayal of the roles of policemen especially in the case of the fictional PNP Chief.

“We want to probably have an audience and probably kung hindi man nila matigil yun, e, mabago man lang yung pagpoportray sa PNP. Yung the Chief PNP himself is a villain hindi naman po siguro kailanman nangyari sa amin. In reality, well hindi pwedeng mangyari 'yan,” he explained.

"Let’s be realistic. Kung 'yan ay isang teleserye na pwedeng mangyari sa pangaraw-araw medyo malayo naman yung chief PNP himself na siya yung kontrabidang lumalabas,” he added.
