In Proclamation No. 621, President Rodrigo Duterte declared March 22, 2019 as Emilio Aguinaldo Day to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of the Philippines’ first ever President in the republic.
KAMI learned that the aim of the proclamation is to “rekindle the Filipino spirit through lessons of history” as reported by ABS-CBN News.
As mandated by the proclamation, National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) will be the lead agency of the celebration.
“The NHCP may convene an inter-agency task force to plan, coordinate and implement effectively all programs, projects, and activities relative to this milestone event,” it stated as reported by Inquirer.
All government agencies, department or even officers are all expected to give their support to NHCP in this celebration.
Emilio Aguinaldo was the first and youngest president of the Philippines back in 1899 to 1901. He was a key figure during the Philippine revolution as well as in the Philippine-American war.
