- Former Miss International titleholder Precious Lara Quigaman gave few words about the result of this year’s pageant
- The country’s bet Ahtisa Manalo placed first runner-up in the contest
- Lara said that it was a close fight between the winner and Ahtisa
Former beauty queen Precious Lara Quigaman bravely released some statements about the placement of Philippines’ bet Ahtisa Manalo in this year’s Miss International pageant.
KAMI learned that Ahtisa just fell short in her dream of bringing home the coveted crown as she finished first runner-up in the recently-concluded pageant.
Lara, who won the Miss International title in 2005, expressed that the candidates from Venezuela and Philippines were on a close fight especially in the latter part of the contest.
However, the Kapamilya actress claimed that the judges gave the crown to Miss Venezuela because it was her birthday during the pageant date.
Notwithstanding the close fight, Lara believed that the announced winner also deserved to be crowned because she was eloquent and stunning.
“Birthday kasi ni Miss Venezuela, binigay tuloy sa kanya. Naisip ko lang naman yon kasi sabi niya birthday niya, pero puwede naman,” she quipped.
“Kumbaga, mahirap talagang pagpilian yung dalawa. In fairness naman kay Venezuela, magaling siyang magsalita at maganda rin naman talaga siya,” she added.
With regards to the performance of Ahtisa, the former titleholder said that she was impressed by how the country’s representative brought pride to her homeland.
She even revealed that she personally picked and convinced the other judges in Binibining Pilipinas to send the beautiful lady in the Miss International stage.
“Nagkataon lang na birthday niya kaya sa kanya tuloy nabigay yung korona. Dapat birthday na lang din ni Ahtisa, pero sobrang galing ni Ahtisa talaga. Sobrang ganda ng performance niya, sobrang ganda niya,” Lara explained.
“Actually, judge ako ng Binibining Pilipinas this year at sinabi ko talaga sa mga kasama ko na judges don, ‘you put Ahtisa in Miss International kasi Miss Internatonal ang face niya. So, sayang lang talaga, pero she really did well, sobrang proud tayo sa kanya,” she added.
In a previous article by KAMI, the celebrity finally gave birth to her second child with Kapuso actor Marco Alcaraz.
Born on January 3, 1983, Lara is a Filipino actress who became the fourth Filipina to win the Miss International crown in Tokyo, Japan. She joined Binibining Pilipinas twice before she was able to represent the country.
