COMELEC to talk to Kathniel for election rule violation

Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez said he needs to talk to Kapamilya love team Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, tagged as Kathniel, for outright violation of election rule.

Commission on Election spokesman James Jimenez said today that he needs to talk with actress Kathryn Bernardo and actor Daniel Padilla after the two Kapamilya stars’ ‘selfie’ photo with their ballots surfaced on Internet May 9, election day.

“Kathryn and Daniel and I need to talk,” Jimenez said on Twitter in response to a complaint posted by netizen Mike Acebedo Lopez.

Mike Acebedo Lopez on his Facebook post calls the attention of the COMELEC for outright violation of Kapamilya stars Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla.

The Comelec has repeatedly said that taking and posting selfies with ballots or voting receipts is considered an election offense.

Jimenez in an interview with Philstar.com also said, "For those who willingly and obviously, very openly displayed their ballot, we need to talk."

“They can bring their cell phones but they cannot use them inside the polling precincts,” Comelec Chairman Andres D. Bautista previously said.
