- US President Donald Trump was allegedly supporting Sara Duterte to be the next Philippine president
- However, it has been reported that the alleged photo of Trump has been fabricated
- Also, Sara Duterte is eyeing for re-election as Davao City Mayor
A photo of US President Donald Trump showing his support to Presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte circulated online when a Facebook user posted it in a social media group.
The post showed that Trump was allegedly holding a sign saying that “Sara Duterte, the next Philippines president 2022” along with phrases “no records” and “corruption”. The post also has a caption “YES… OUR FUTURE PRESIDENT, ATTY. MAYOR INDAY SARA DUTERTE.”
However, KAMI learned from Rappler that this photo was altered. The original photo was taken by Spencer Platt from Getty Images. The authentic photo was showing that Trump was pledging to support the Republican nominee in the US polls back in 2016.
As previously reported by KAMI, Sara Duterte broke her silence regarding the issue of her running as President. She also stated that if she wanted to run as a President, she could have opted for a national post for the next elections. She sought a re-election as mayor in Davao. She has filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) for the 2019 polls.
It has also been reported by KAMI that President Rodrigo Duterte refers to the US President as his “friend” after blaming Trump for the sudden acceleration of inflation in the country.
“Inflation is dahil ‘yan kay Trump. When Trump raised yung mga tariff niya, pati banned other items, nagkaloko-loko,” Duterte said.
