Vice Presidentiable Leni Robredo was unable to vote after the Smartmatic vote counting machine (VCM) malfunctioned at her precinct. The VCM did not receive ballots being fed to it and could not count her vote.
Robredo arrived at 9:35 a.m. to cast her vote after stopovers at the Our Lady of Peñafrancia Basilica Minore, the Eternal Gardens where her late husband former DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo is buried, and the residence of the Archbishop of Caceres. It is reported that she has taken a 12-hour public bus ride to her hometown.
A new VCM arrived around 10:30 a.m. Robredo was able to cast her ballot around 11:30 a.m. after two hours of waiting.
