It has been two years since President Rodrigo Duterte has took his oath back in 2016. Despite the criticisms he had most especially when it comes to his campaign against illegal drugs which reached to the International Criminal Court, it did not hinder him to accomplish his projects and serve the Filipinos.

KAMI has learned that out of his many projects, there are top 6 that made an impact to the Filipinos. Here are the 6 remarkable projects and accomplishments of President Duterte’s administration:

One of the biggest projects of President Duterte since then is the “war on drugs”. The President firmly believes that the drug addicts are the root of all crimes in the country. As reported by Inquirer, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) has released a data showing that around 5,000 known drug users were killed and 150,000 were arrested during the 110,395 anti-narcotics operation dated from July 2016 to September 2018.

As previously reported by KAMI, P11 billion worth of illegal drugs slipped through the Bureau of Customs. The PDEA has been conducting an investigation to where the shabu went from the suspected magnetic filters.

Poor infrastructure leads to unemployment and poverty in the country. President Duterte has pushed his “Build, Build, Build” Program which aims to invest more on infrastructures to enhance the lives of Filipinos, this could also be the legacy of the President.

According to Inquirer’s report, the targeted expenditure from 2017 to 2022 will play around P8 to P9 trillion. Some of the flagship projects involved are the Manila and Clark Freeport in Pampanga; 1,500-hectare industrial park in Pampanga; Subic-Clark Railway; and additional airports. As reported by ABS-CBN News, the government spent P352.7 billion for the program from January to June.

On April 26, the majestic view of Boracay Island had its temporary closure to restore its beauty. President Duterte had decided to close Boracay for the meantime due to the worsening ‘gargabe, overcrowding, traffic congestion’ at the island.

“Boracay island, widely regarded as one of our country’s treasures and admired worldwide for its natural beauty, has sadly become the representation of governance and government’s neglect,” President Duterte said as reported by Inquirer.

Recently, October 26, Boracay has re-opened their place to the tourists. However, rules and regulations are much stricter this time around as previously reported by KAMI to maintain the beauty of the island. They also had a dry-run last October 15.
