- Typhoon Yutu is likely to enter PAR over the weekend
- However, its landfall will depend to Amihan
- Yutu will be named “Rosita” once it enters the PAR
International typhoon Yutu may enter the Philippine are of responsibility (PAR) over the weekend. The northeast monsoon or Amihan could contribute to the typhoon’s landfall if ever, as stated by Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
KAMI has learned that as of now, the typhoon is not likely to make a landfall. However, since the Amihan might approach the country over the weekend as well from the northeast, it could bring down Yutu and be closer to the Northern or Central Luzon for a landfall.
Yutu was last spotted at 2,535 kilometers east of Central Luzon. It has sustained winds of 210 kilometers per hour and 260 kph gusts as reported by ABS-CBN News.
As much as Amihan could trigger Yutu for a landfall, it can also weaken the typhoon. Once it reaches the PAR, Yutu will be called Rosita.
PAGASA also stated that they will be giving more updates regarding this. Everyone is encouraged to stay vigilant and to remain safe.
As previously reported by KAMI, Typhoon Ompong lashed the Philippines last September. However, President Duterte has been “very, very satisfied” to the precautionary measures the government has made to lessen the casualties.
