Sa isang klinika sa Orchard Road, Singapore, nagpamasahe si Serene Lim na nasawi umano matapos sumailalim sa traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) na tuina therapy.

Ayon sa isang article ng The Asian Parent Philippines, isang tawag mula sa klinika sa Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), humingi ang mga ito ng tulong matapos mawalan ng malay si Lim.

Sinikap pa umanong i-revive si Lim sa pmamagitan ng cardiac pulmonary resuscitation ngunit hindi umabra kaya naman isinugod na ito sa ospital.

Idineklarang patay ito noong 8:47 pm.

Ayon sa Tan Tock Seng Hospital, ang tuina therapy o deep tissue Chinese massage, ay isang hands-on-body manipulation treatment.

“Physically, it is a series of pressing, tapping, and kneading with palms, fingertips, knuckles to remove blockages along the meridians of the body and stimulate the flow of energy (qi) and blood to promote healing from within.”

Ayon pa kay Dr. Khoo Yong Hak, pwede ito sa lahat ng edad maliban na lamang kung ang isang tao ay may karamdamanng iniinda. Hindi umano dapat na magpamasahe ang kahit na sinong may karamdaman.

“In general, when you're unwell, it's not advisable to have a massage,” he said. “The problem is some people don't know they have a medical condition." dagdag pa nito.
