- Last Friday, Philippines has sought a reelection at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC)
- The Philippine delegation was headed by Teddy Locsin
- Palace has also released a statement regarding the reelection
It has been reported that the Philippines has won a seat in the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) on October 12 (Friday). Department of Foreign Affairs broke the news by saying, “We won!”
KAMI has learned that the Philippine delegation to the United Nations was headed by Teodoro “Teddy” Locsin Jr. He was also recently eyed to be the new Foreign Secretary by President Rodrigo Duterte.
According to new Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo, the reelection of Philippines in UNHRC has a lot to say regarding the administration’s anti-narcotics campaign.
“Getting a seat in the UN Human Rights Council is a repudiation of the critics and detractors on President Duterte's unrelenting war against illegal drugs,” Panelo stated.
“With the county's reelection, the President's campaign against illegal drugs, corruption, and criminality has, in effect, been acknowledged by the international community as essential to the protection of the right to life, liberty, and property of every peace-loving and law-abiding citizen of our State," he added.
Panelo also thanked UNHRC for the reelection despite the issues thrown to the country by groups from USA, Europe and North America.
UNHRC is a body of United Nations which promotes to protect human rights across all nations.
As previously reported by KAMI, Teddy Locsin will possibly replace Alan Peter Cayetano as the Foreign Secretary. However, no official announcement has been made yet.
