Maria Leonor Gerona Robredo also known as Leni Robredo was first known to be the widow of the late Jesse Robredo, the former Mayor of Naga City and former Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) secretary as stated in her official website.

In 2016, Leni Robredo assumed the post of vice presidency. She is a member of Liberal Party. Before, she was a public attorney and also a member of SALIGAN, a lawyers group. She was appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte as Chairperson of Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC).

Robredo also serves as the chair of Board of the Home Development Mutual Fund Pag-IBIG Fund), Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB), National Housing Authority (NHA), National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation (NHMFC), and Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC). She is also the Vice Chairperson of the Board of the Home Guaranty Corporation (HGC).

House Bills

Roberado co-authored the House Bill 3587 or Anti-Political Dynasty bill which seeks to refrain relatives up to second civil degree to assume any elective post. She also co-authored House Bill 5801 and authored House bill 3237 also known as Freedom of Information Act. This bill proposes that government should disclose information to the public through a web portal.

Robredo also authored House Bill 2492 or Tax Incentives Management and Transparency Act which was passed into law. The bill aims to enhance the tax system and ensure transparency. She also authored House Bill 19, which requires the government of full disclosure of information to the public.


Robredo has endorsed herself to be pro-poor and for the people. Her advocacies include youth empowerment, labor rights, gender equality, anti-poverty and human rights.

Angat Buhay

Angat Buhay is the flagship project of the Office if the Vice President (OVP). As reported by Inquirer, as of July 2018, the program was able to help a total of 155,000 families since October 2016.

“Ito iyong pinangako ko noong ako ay kumakandidato, noong aking inauguration — na iyong core talaga na magiging programa ng Office of the Vice President iyong pag-asikaso ng mga nasa laylayan ng lipunan,” Robredo said.

The project had cost over P252 million with some help from other partners. The main focus of the Angat Buhay are public education, rural development, food security, women empowerment, healthcare, housing and resettlement.

There were times when the program would also offer legal assistance, job fairs and even medical missions.

The OVP was also able to help women in Marawi in terms of their livelihood.

Istorya ng Pag-asa

Istorya ng Pag-asa is a travelling photo gallery showcasing different sides of Filipinos. The OVP started this back in 2016 to encourage Filipinos to show their creativity as well as to share their stories of hope. Last June 2018, Istorya ng Pag-asa had a film festival. The Top 3 films will be showed in Ayala cinemas.

They also have a segment called BISErbisyong Leni, a radio show which airs on RMN-DZXK 558 kHz every Sunday at 9 to 10 a.m.

Vice President Leni Robredo is currently facing an electoral protest by former Senator Bongbong Marcos, her opponent during the 2016 elections. The latter had requested a recount for the vice presidency for he claimed that there were alleged irregularities with the result.
