Actress-turned-politician Vilma Santos finally responded to allegations that she will seek for a national position in the May 2019 mid-term elections.
KAMI learned that the rumors sparked in 2016 when the promising actress already consumed both three terms as Mayor and Governor in Batangas.
There were speculations that she would run in a higher position such as Senator or Vice-President of the country.
However, the Star for All Seasons decided to pursue her first term as Congresswoman in the lone district of Lipa City, Batangas in 2016.
Yesterday, the current Representative of Lipa City, Batangas denied the rumors once again as she filed her Certificate of Candidacy for the same position in the upcoming polls.
Joined by her husband, Senator Ralph Recto, the In My Life star submitted her necessary documents to the Commission on Election (COMELEC) on October 11.
She will run under her local political party which is “One Batangas.”
If she wins as Congresswoman, this will be the third position that she will hold as a politician.
It can be remembered that she served as the Lipa City Mayor for three terms in 1998 to 2007.
After she consumed the allowed terms as a Mayor, she ran as Governor of Batangas in 2007 and successfully won three times again.
