8 films that made it to this year’s MMFF finally named

- The Selection Committee finally completed the list of 8 official entries to this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival

- The movies of Vice Ganda, Vic Sotto, and Anne Curtis were among those that made it

- The festival will start on December 25, 2018

The names of eight Filipino films that will battle it out in the big screen for the 2018 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) were finally announced.

The MMFF Selection Committee, helmed by National Artist for Literature Bienvenido Lumbera, revealed the mixture of comedy, fantasy, action, drama, and horror movies that made it to the prestigious film competition.

Here are the eight films included in the 2018 MMFF:

1. Fantastica: The Princess, The Prince and The Perya

Another comedy film of the Phenomenal star Vice Ganda is among the eight entries that will certainly entertain the moviegoers in December. The actor will be joined by young celebrities including Maris Racal, Loisa Andalio, and Maymay Entrata.

The film is directed by Barry Gonzalez and will be produced by Star Cinema and Viva Films.

2. Aurora

Kapamilya actress Anne Curtis will try to scare viewers as she does a horror-movie this year entitled, “Aurora.” Yam Laranas serves as the director of the masterpiece under Viva Films.

3. Popoy En Jack: The Pulisincredibles

This film proves that networks are not hindrance for Filipino celebrities to collaborate as Vic Sotto, Maine Mendoza, and Coco Martin star in this much-anticipated movie. It will be directed by Rodel Nacianceno under MZet, APT, and CCM Productions.

4. Girl in the Orange Dress

Four of the most promising artists in the country will try to entertain viewers through the film, “Girl in the Orange Dress.” It will feature the collaboration of Jessy Mendiola, Jericho Rosales, Kim Chiu, and Tom Rodriguez. And of course, director Jay Abello will be at the helm of this film.

5. Rainbow Sunset

A Joel Lamangan’s film starring veteran artists Gloria Romero, Eddie Garcia and Tony Mabesa also made it to the list of the qualified movies for MMFF 2018. This is produced by Heaven’s Best Entertainment.

6. Mary, Marry Me

A film that will feature the Gonzaga sisters – Toni and Alex – including promising actor Sam Milby took a spot in this year’s film festival. The movie is directed by Rc Delos Reyes and is under TEN17P.

7. One Great Love

This film is the second for Kim Chiu in MMFF 2018. She will be with Dennis Trillo and JC de Vera. The movie is directed by Erik Quizon and will be produced by Regal Entertainment.

8. Otlum

A film featuring youngsters Ricci Rivero and Jerome Ponce made it to the Magic 8. Director Jovinor Tan facilitated the making of this film.

The first four movies announced before were based on the submitted scripts while the other four that completed the list were decided by the full-length outputs.

The MMFF 2018 will begin on December 25 and will end on January 7, 2019.
