Another update has been out to the public regarding President Rodrigo Duterte’s health. According to acting secretary of Interior and Local Government, the President is cancer-free as he said in a Cabinet meeting on Monday that was supposed to happen last week.
KAMI learned the 73-year-old President Duterte tested negative after doctors examined some samples from his intestines.
“He disclosed to us that the result of the test was negative, the one where they took samples from his intestines,” said Eduardo Año.
Special Assistant to the President Bong Go told the reporters, “Sorry to disappoint his critics, the President is very healthy and in high spirits. I know for a fact that he is cancer-free."
“He will finish his term and live beyond 2022. Tuloy lang po ang aming trabaho. Salamat po sa inyong concern sa kaniyang kalusugan. I assure you, there is nothing to worry about," he added.
As previously reported by KAMI, President Duterte explained why he missed an event in Malacañang last week. He confirmed that he went to Cardinal Santos Medical Center for a follow-up. He also shared that he’s suffering from Barret’s esophagus.
“I was about to have a sana Cabinet meeting yesterday but 'yung reading ng aking ano somebody advised my doctor just to repeat and get some samples there, but dito uli so I stayed there for one hour sa Cardinal Santos," he said.
“I don't know where I'm now physically but I have to wait for that. But I would tell you if it's cancer, it's cancer,” he added.
Is President Duterte required to let the public know about his health condition? KAMI has also reported before that as per 1987 Philippine Constitution Article VII Section 12, the President should disclose information with regard to his health.
“In case of serious illness of the President, the public shall be informed of the state of his health. The members of the Cabinet in charge of national security and foreign relations and the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, shall not be denied access to the President during such illness,” it stated.
