Amid criticisms, Richard Yap finally answers rumors about him entering politics

Kapamilya actor Richard Yap responded to allegations that he will be running for a position in the May 2019 mid-term elections.

KAMI learned that the rumors sparked on social media as some netizens claimed that entering politics means goodbye to the actor’s showbiz career.

Richard admitted in an interview with that he is open for possibility of running as a Congressman in the North District of Cebu City.

The celebrity expressed that he is thinking very hard about it and he does not want to rush his decision even if it is already filing of Certificate of Candidacy next week.

He said he is aware of his detractors and the demolition job against him from the people who do not want him to pursue a seat inside politics.

"I know it's going to be worse. Even now, I think may nag-uumpisa na,” the Kapamilya star quipped pertaining to the individuals who are forming a demolition job against him.

"Di pa nga sigurado kung papasok ako o hindi, may nag-uumpisa na. Pero pag nasa tama naman tayo, wala naman tayong dapat ikatakot,” he added.

If ever he decides to run and eventually win the election, Richard claimed that it will be easy for him to overcome bashing because he has been tested by such in his showbiz career.

He reiterated that he just does not mind his bashers because they do not know his true story.

"I think kakayanin naman natin ang lahat, nasa showbiz naman tayo. We've gone through sa lahat naman ng mga ganun, bashing and all that,” he stressed.

"Di ko pinapansin kasi karamihan naman sa nangba-bash, hindi naman nila alam ang sinasabi nila,” he added.

Richard believes that the will to serve other people and him not being a traditional politician serve as his motivations for thinking to go through.

However, he clarified that nothing is certain with his decision until the date of the filing of COC.

"Until sa filing ng COC, nothing is definite yet. You know, I've been thinking a lot about this,” he said.

"It's time that somebody else comes in who is not a traditional politician, who knows how to run a business, who feels that we can change. Iyan ang tumutulak sa atin if ever I do decide to go through,” he added.
