- Singer Bituin Escalante fearlessly posted her realizations about President Duterte
- She said she voted for the president with reluctance because of her misplaced anger
- A netizen reacted to her post and said it is time to speak up
Filipina singer Bituin Escalante was praised by a netizen after posting a fearless message about President Rodrigo Duterte and the government.
KAMI learned that the promising belter regretted that she voted for President Duterte during the May 2016 elections.
Bituin expressed that she loves the country more than the head of state and the only reason why she voted for him was her “misplaced anger.”
She also said that she was reluctant to vote for the current president during the elections but now she will not hesitate to express her ire about him and the government.
“I WAS the 16M but I love my country more than the president,” Bituin wrote.
“Many of the 16M voted for him with reluctance. I did so out of a misplaced anger. But I’m rather thick skinned so I have no reluctance putting this out there,” she added.
Despite voicing out her opinion, Bituin clarified that she was just speaking for herself and that she is entitled to her own opinion.
“I cannot speak for the rest though. The backlash is awful,” she quipped.
Because of her strong post, another brave netizen reacted to the singer’s message and said that she admires Bituin for her courage.
The netizen also wished that more of those who elected President Duterte into office will realize that he "has not delivered at all.”
“I admire you for speaking out on this. May more of those who believed that Du30 would bring about change realize that he has not delivered at all,” she commented.
“We all need to stand up now for the sake of our country. Too much bloodshed, too much vindictiveness and self-interest now,” she added.
In a previous article by KAMI, netizens were outraged by the negative posts of Agot Isidro, Enchong Dee, and Bianca Gonzales also about the government during the Independence Day.
Born on April 23, 1977, Bituin is a Filipino singer who is branded as one of Philippines' best female vocals. She became the grand prize winner during the 2002 Himig Handog Music Love Song Festival for her interpretation of “Kung Ako Na Lang Sana.”
