Senator Tito Sotto’s suggestion to change the lyrics of the national anthem “Lupang Hinirang” was slammed by netizens on social media, as reported by KAMI.
Kapamilya superstar Vice Ganda was one of those who reacted to the news.
The comedian jokingly suggested that instead of Sotto’s plan to change “Ang mamatay ng dahil sa ‘yo” to “ang ipaglaban ang kalayaan mo,” it should just be changed to “Ang matraffic ng dahil sa ‘yo.”
“E kung palitan na lang yung last line ng national anthem ng 'Ang matraffic ng dahil sa’yo??!! Mas keri ba?” Vice tweeted.
Sotto also tweeted a response to those who rejected his desire to change the lyrics, belittling the comprehension of his bashers.
"Maraming mahina intindimiento. Ayaw nyo? Hwag! But I will support Joey Ayala’s version of singing d Natnl Anthem. Tama pronunciation n intonation.
"D orig translation frm Spanish to English to Filipino is d cause of d wrong cadence of words,” the Senate President posted.
Vice is a pioneer host of the Kapamilya noontime program “It’s Showtime,” which started in 2009.
As for Sotto, he decided to leave behind the Kapuso variety show “Eat Bulaga” to focus on his duty as the Senate President.
