Phoenix Fuel Masters had their second victory as they dominated over Meralco in PBA Governor’s Cup which was held Wednesday night at Smart Araneto Coliseum.
KAMI has learned that it was the best performance yet of Phoenix franchise since they joined back in 2016 with score 96-86. The current record of Fuel Masters now is 4-1.
Eugene Phelps led the game with 24 points and 19 rebounds. Matthew Wright and Calvin Abueva both chipped in 16 points. While LA Revilla, hailed as Best Player of the Game, contributed 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.
As reported by Spin.ph, according to Phoenix coach Louie Alas, the long break they had really helped the team to work together as Abueva and RJ Jazul showed their leadership skills.
“Lagi ngang kinakausap ni Calvin at RJ na it’s only five against five, kahit lima ang matira sa team, we will play. I have to give credit sa leadership,” said Alas.
However, the undermanned Meralco has faced their third defeat, 1-3. Jared Dillinger and Ranidel de Ocampo were not in the game. But still, Chris Newsome gave in 18 points, and Allen Durham scored 16 points.
