After Bagyong Ompong lashed the northern part of Luzon, it has been reported that four to five tropical cyclones will be hitting the Philippines until the end of the year. The unforeseeable casualties by the storms urged President Rodrigo Duterte to call for much stronger infrastructures in the country.
KAMI has learned from GMA News that according to President Duterte, “I don’t know why God placed us here, but the fact is that typhoons and storms will be a part of our lives forever,”
“That must be pasok sa utak ng mga anak natin that they have somehow to improve on everything, whether infrastructure, build stronger bridges, more resilient shelters and everything,” he added.
The president also added how typhoons affect the education, shelter, and medical issues in our country.
As previously reported by KAMI, President Duterte tasked Department of Public Works and Highways to build more gymnasiums that will also serve as evacuation centers for the victims of the typhoons. He also added that this project can also be a legacy for his administration.
