- Gilas Pilipinas has faced their third loss in FIBA World Cup Qualifiers
- Iran won over Philippines with score 81-73
- According to Gilas Pilipinas’ coach Yeng Guiao, they had missed their chance of taking over Iran
Another sad loss for Philippines as Gilas Pilipinas failed to dominate over Iran in FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers on Thursday night, September 13 at Azady Gym in Tehran.
KAMI has learned from Rappler that the Slaughter-less team tried to win the match for the first three quarters but Iran has made an 11-point lead during the last quarter. The game ended with a score of 81-73.
However, naturalized player Christian Standhardinger did not disappoint and shed 30 points with 12 rebounds. Unfortunately, it was not enough for the national team to win the game.
Alex Cabagnot was able to give 9 points and 5 assists. While Beau Belga chipped in 7 points and Paul Lee contributed 6 points.
According to Coach Yeng Guiao, the team could not just make their shots which was not normal for them. He even said, “Haddadi was not playing for most of the game, it could have been our chance,”
It was Iran’s 6th win, making their standing in FIBA’s Group F, 6-1. Now, Gilas Pilipinas has a record of 4-3.
