Upon his arrival from Jordan, President Duterte had his answers on why Philippine economy has reached its inflation rate at 6.4%, the fastest in almost a decade.
According to the President, “Inflation is dahil ‘yan kay Trump. When Trump raised yung mga tariff niya, pati banned other items, nagkaloko-loko."
The president even added that US President Donald Trump “wanted” to increase their taxes and import dues. This shocked the many because President Duterte is known to be good friends with Trump.
“Who started it? America. When America raised its rates, everyone raised theirs as well. That is how it is. There is nothing we can do,”
Therefore, in his defense, the President stated, “I have nothing against the American people, not the slightest,” Duterte even said that he will talk to his “friend” Donald Trump.
