- Gin Kings dominated Batang Pier in PBA Governor’s Cup
- Japeth Aguilar dominated the game during the fourth quarter
- Greg Slaughter had a bad fall and was kept out from the game
Barangay Ginebra crushed NorthPort Batang Pier with score 104-98 in PBA Governor’s Cup on Wednesday, September 5. The Gin Kings did not disappoint and are now leading solo in the league.
As reported by Philippine Star, Ginebra’s Japeth Aguilar led the last quarter by shedding 8 points in the 10 final points of the team. Aguilar’s performance spoiled the return of NorthPort’s star player, Stanley Pringle.
According to Ginebra’s coach, Tim Cone, “Japeth had key shots in the end and it got us over the hump,”
“We were in survival mode, trying to see if we can survive games at this point. We need to be a lot better than what we’re playing,” the coach added.
The coach said that they are trying to do better and survive to win their games. He also mentioned the importance of discipline for the betterment of their defense.
“We need to find our discipline a little more. We need more flow and we need more focus on defense. Hopefully that stuffs come around as we move forward,” he said.
It has also been reported that Greg Slaughter had a bad fall against Sean Anthony during the fourth quarter. This made Coach Cone to keep out Slaughter from the game for the meantime to rest.
NorthPort Batang Pier remains with their 0-4 standing. Ginebra is set to face Blackwater Elite on September 21.
