- Trillanes’ camp will file petition for temporary restraining order at the High Court
- He even warned everyone that what the President has been doing should alarm the country’s justices
- If the petition will be granted, this will be the first controversial issue handled by Duterte’s appointee, Chief Justice De Castro
Sen. Trillanes has decided to file a petition for temporary restraining order to Supreme Court on Wednesday, September 5, 2018. The petition seeks to temporarily void the proclamation President Duterte has signed to revoke Trillanes’ amnesty.
According to Trillanes, “Magfafile kami ng petition for temporary restraining order sa Korte Suprema,”
“This goes beyond political lines. That presidential declaration should alarm justices,” he added.
KAMI learned from ABS-CBN News that if this petition will be granted, this will be the first controversy that newly appointed Supreme Court chief justice Teresita Leonardo De Castro. In previous reports, De Castro stated that despite the issues, the Supreme Court will be independent when it comes to their decisions.
As previously reported by KAMI, under Proclamation No. 752, President Duterte declared for Sen. Trillanes’ amnesty to be revoked. The president even ordered the Philippine National Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines to arrest the senator. However, in Trillanes’ defense, Duterte’s order was a warrantless arrest.
