- Supreme Court spokesperson Theodore Te resigns
- He tendered his resignation last August 29, 2018 to newly appointed Chief Justice Teresita Leonardo De Castor
- Te has been serving to the High Court since 2013
On Monday, Supreme Court (SC) spokesperson Theodore Te resigned as the assistant court administration and public information officer.
KAMI learned from PTV that Te tendered his resignation in a letter dated August 29, 2018. He addressed this letter to the new Chief Justice, Teresita Leonardo De Castor to which she has approved.
“I am returning to full-time academic life, which I had put on hold starting 2013 to be able to serve the judiciary and the Supreme Court. I respectfully believe that I would be of greater value to the judiciary and the Court in the academic world at this time,” Te stated in his letter.
“I believe that Your Honor should be given a free hand to craft your own media policies and to appoint a person whom your Honor believes could best implement those policies,” he added.
As reported by Rappler, Deputy Information Chief Maria Victoria Gleoresty Guerra will be the next acting once Theodore Te steps out of the office on September 7, 2018.
Back in 2013, Te was appointed by ousted Maria Lourdes Sereno to serve in the High Court. Before his role as public information officer, Te was a human rights lawyer and a law professor.
