Democrat Dr. Jennifer Zimmerman, a resident pediatrician in Santa Rosa county in Florida, is taking the necessary steps to win a seat at the U.S. House of Representatives. She is bound to face Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz in November.

KAMI learned about the news when the Facebook page Jennifer Zimmerman for Congress posted a personal thank you note from Zimmerman to all those who supported her throughout the campaigns and polls.

Zimmerman bested Phil Ehr, her only rival, in the polls for Democratic primary with over 20 votes.

She promises a platform for better healthcare, government-subsidized and funded education, and a cleaner environment for her beloved community in Florida.

The Democrat medical doctor also underscored her edge against Republican opponent Matt Gaetz, in an interview with

"The number one thing I have learned is that people actually listen to your truths. if you speak from the heart and you speak the truth people will appreciate that and that is what my campaign was based on. That there is love not hatred that we can work together because one of my hashtags is not only this woman can but together we rise." Dr. Zimmerman stated.

She also mentioned that she never left Crestview, her hometown for decades, as she served the same community for many years.

"I think the number one thing that people know about me and appreciate is the fact that I've been faithfully serving this community. I started in Crestview in 1999 and I have not left Crestview since then." She added.

Zimmerman also ended with a note of a reminder to Northwest Floridians about embracing change and all its positive effects on the community.

"Don't be afraid of change . Don't be afraid to trust a different voice. What I bring to this race is something you have not heard for so long but I'm a physician I'm well qualified."
