- China took over the Philippines at the women’s volleyball division in Asiad 2018

During the quarterfinals of women’s volleyball at GBK Indoor Hall, China easily took over the Philippine team with scores 25-15, 25-9 and 25-7.
China advanced to the semifinals to face off Japan. Players Xiangyu Gong scored 16 points while Xinyue Yuan gave in 15 points.
Jaja Santiago led the Pinay spikers throughout the game shedding 16 points for Team PHI.
KAMI learned from ABS-CBN News that Philippine national team coach, Shaq delos Santos, was still happy for the game's result.
He said, “For us, napakagandang experience sa’min and hopefully, mas maging inspired kami. Sabi ko nga sa mga bata, di natin kailangan ma-down.”
“Kailangan mas maging inspired tayo and kailangan may matutunan tayo every time na naglalaro tayo. So for us, magandang experience and hopefully madala namin to para doon sa process na ginagawa namin sa team,” the coach added.
Through an Instagram post, team captain Abigail Maraño shared her sentiments on the game.
She said, “Isang karangalan na makalaban ang China team, purong Olympian. Mapalad kami na makaranas ng ganito, yung sumubok at hindi sumuko. Nagsisimula pa lang tayo. Malayo pa ang itatakbo ng Pilipinas Volleyball.”
“Sa ngayon, nakita natin kung nasaan na tayo. Malayo pa pero magtiyaga lang at tiwala, lahat ng iyan makakaya,” she added.
According to Alyssa Valdez, “I think what we learned and we got here from today's game is malayo pa talaga,”
“It's actually a positive, kasi we're really motivated na mas galingan at mas mag-pursige pa kami sa mga trainings namin,” she added.

It is not yet over for Team PHI, the Filipna spikers are set to face off against Kazakhstan on Friday, August 31, 2018.
