- The twins were diagnosed with Chronic Granulomatous Disease (CGD)
- The parents could only save on of the twins
- They are also asking everyone for donations
In China, parents of twins are torn in a very difficult decision. What’s worst is that this will be a life-changing moment for the family.
At their 10th month, the twins were diagnosed with Chronic Granulomatous Disease (CGD). CGD is a primary immunodeficiency disease (PI) wherein white blood cells called as neutrophils won’t produce hydrogen peroxide, bleach and other chemicals needed in order to fight against bacteria and fungal infections. It is not contagious, however, it is hereditary.
The symptoms first came out after one month since they were born. The disease was first seen in the elder child, Kang Kang. He had a hard time breathing, therefore, he was sent to intensive care unit (ICU). The younger twin, Le Le, also had the same symptoms.
Despite the fact that they already have donors from China Marrow Donor Programme, the family still needs more financial support.
One operation costs P3.9 million which will leave the family with P7.8 million hospital bill. After asking money from their relatives and friends, they received P3.1 million which is still not enough to save two lives.
Now, the parents have no choice but to choose who to save in case they won’t reach the actual amount needed. To help with their decision, the parents made the twins choose by picking a paper. The elder twin got the one with “winning”. This made the twins’ grandmother mad and went against their decision to choose.
However, they remain faithful to God and prays to save both of the twins.
The family is also asking for donations from everyone. It would be a great help for them.
