Vice Presidential candidate and Camarines Sur Representative Leni Robredo quashed conspiracy theories and called on her rival, Senator Bongbong Marcos, to stop spreading lies.

“Pakiusap ko lang kay Senator Marcos, lumaban ka ng patas,” Robredo said hours before the final campaign day comes to a close.

Robredo made the appeal after Marcos claimed that the Liberal Party (LP) has a “plan B” to cheat in the May 9 national elections.

Marcos floated the idea that people in the administration party may already have given up on the winning chances of its standard-bearer Mar Roxas and instead, would just ensure a win for Robredo in the vice presidential elections so that in the event that Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte wins, the Liberal Party can impeach him and replace him with Robredo.

Robredo responded by asking the senator fight fairly and stop spreading lies. “Kung liligawan niya ang supporters ni Mayor Duterte, ‘wag naman sana niya ako bibiktimahin ng pagsisinungaling,” she said.

She also highlighted how she has already proven that she cannot be used by anyone, much so in the plans to cheat in the elections.

“Hindi all the time agree ako sa decision ng LP. Over time napakita ko na napakaindependent-minded ko. Napatanuyan ko naman na walang pwedeng gumamit sa akin,” she said.

Robredo, who is now either on top of the surveys or in a statistical tie with Marcos, credited her rise in popularity and voter preference due to her hard work and the support of the many volunteers from all walks of life, without having to resort to black propaganda.

“Noong hindi pa ako number one, wala namang ganito eh. Noong nag number one ako, the following day sobrang daming ridiculous black propaganda,” she said.

“Buti sana kung may kahit konting basis ng truth eh wala naman,” she added.
