It’s a history! After 36 years, Philippines finally had its victory in a volleyball league at Asian Games.
In a report by ABS-CBN Sports, with the combined firepower of the entire team, especially of top hitter Alyssa Valdez and middle blocker Jaja Santiago, the Philippine national team dominated Hong Kong with a scores 25-18, 25-21 and 25-22.
It was the first win since the team of Vangie De Jesus and Fe Mejia crushed India back in 1982. It was also the last time for the PHI team to participate in the quadrennial meet.
Volleyball player Valdez dominated the game with 14 points, 10 attacks and four services. Meanwhile, Santiago contributed 12 points in the game.
Setter Kim Fajardo started off PHI’s domination with 22 successful sets.
In order to advance in the quarterfinals, the Pinay spikers’ will fight against Indonesia on Saturday, August, 25, 2018.
