Philippine won its first gold in 2018 Asian Games courtesy of Hidilyn Diaz. She got the top spot in the women's weighlifting 53 kg. She reigned supreme in the event at Jakarta International Expo in Indonesia on Tuesday, August 21.
Hidilyn lifted a total of 207 kg defeating Turkmenistan's Kristian Shermetova, who finished with 206 kg. Diaz's gold is the country's 5th medal after winning four bronze medals earlier.
It was an improvement for Diaz after she failed to make the cut in 2014 edition of the Games in Incheon, South Korea.
