In celebration of Ninoy Aquino Day, President Duterte shared his message to commemorate Ninoy Aquino.

According to a report by CNN, the President stated,

“Let us take this opportunity to reflect on his sacrifice as we honor the courage and patriotism that Ninoy demonstrated during his struggle,”

"In this time of real and lasting change, we need more citizens like him so we can steer our country towards the direction where a brighter and better future awaits us all,", he added.

The President also said that working together as a nation is the only way to institute meaning reforms. In this way, people can put an end to many social ills that have been hindering us to have a mature and stable democracy.

It was back in August 21, 1983 when former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. was assassinated upon his arrival at Manila International Airport, now called as Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

In a previous post by KAMI, President Duterte would only resign if likes of Bongbong Marcos would succeed him.

“Hindi niya kaya, that’s my honest opinion ko lang. Kung sino na lang sana diyan, in the likes of [Senator Francis] Escudero or [former Senator] Bongbong Marcos,”

President Duterte is a political ally of the Marcoses as his father served in Marcos’ pre-Martial Law Cabinet.

The president allowed the interment of Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani back in 2016. According to Duterte, he was just enforcing the law.
