At the opening rites of Asian Games 2018, Filipino-American NBA player Jordan Clarkson brought pride and honor to our country as the Philippine flag bearer.
KAMI learned through a report by Rappler, Clarkson shared his experience as the PH flag bearer.
“It was one of the happiest moments in my life, to experience that is a great time – to see everyone's faces, how motivated everybody was – it was just a great experience, great feeling for me,” he stated.
Clarkson marched and proudly waved the Philippine flag in his modern Barong. According to him, he was overwhelmed because he didn’t expect that much from the 80,000 people at the crowd.
“I hadn't seen something like that ever. I didn't know there was that many people there. I didn't know how big the Asian Games really was until I came out of that tunnel and seeing the reactions,” the basketball player added.
The 18th Asian Games opening was held at Gelora Bung Karno stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia last August 18, 2018.
In a previous report by KAMI, Jordan Clarkson was hailed as a humble person by his team. According to PBA commisioner Willie Marcial, "Sobrang humble. Tsaka matagal ng gustong-gusto na maglaro para sa Pilipinas. Alam mong pusong Pinoy talaga,"
Jordan Clarkson will have his debut as part of Philippine national team on a tournament with China on August 21, 2018.
