- Angelina Cruz is starting to make her mark in music industry
- She recounted how she reached out to her father one time
- Cesar Montano did not respond to her
Angelina Cruz, one of Sunshine Cruz and Cesar Montano’s daughters, is starting to get known in the music industry. After being launched as an up-and-coming artist just last year, she has managed to achieve millions of streams on Spotify though her previously-released singles.
Angelina is currently a Grade 11 student at the De La Salle Santiago Zobel School. Despite the tempting showbiz success, Angelina said that school will remain her number one priority. Yet she also make sure to focus on her music.
“Usually, I need to know my priorities. I need to get my priorities straight first so school is my number one priority, obviously. So whenever there might be guestings on a weekday, I can’t do it. I usually decline it and maybe ask if we can do it on a weekend because I usually have to focus on my school first because if ever I’m absent, I miss a lot of things. I’m obviously absent now because of the presscon and it’s really important to me. Right now, school is my number one priority,” she said in an interview by Push.
As a teenager, she longed for her father despite the support her mom had given her. She shared how she reached out to her dad but he did not respond to her.
“I tried reaching out to him but he hasn’t replied or anything. And I know what he’s going through. I just wish his issue could be resolved and I just wish the best for him,” said Angelina.
Despite the absence of her dad, Macky Mathay, her mom's boyfriend, showed support and love for her and her siblings.
“Tito Macky is like a father to me. He’s really supportive. Like even mom—mom’s very supportive of me. He tells me what to do whenever I freak out because I usually [do] before a thing or I get really nervous which he just tells me to calm down, to practice and that really helps me."
Sunshine is very proud of her daughter.
“Sobra. Sobrang proud. Lagi naman ‘yan eh. Every time I post something about her on social media, laging may #ProudMom because I’m really very proud of her,” she said.
