- PHL won over Kazakhstan in Asian Games 2018
- Stanley Pringle lead the game with 18 points
- Jordan Clarkson arrived during the third quarter
Gilas Pilipinas is stronger than ever! In a report by GMA News, Philippine team ‘Gilas’ had a victory over Kazakhstan with a score 96-59. In the opening of Asian Games 2018 in Indonesia, Team Gilas took over the game by 37 points even without NBA player Jordan Clarkson.
Coached by Yeng Guiao, the team showed their defense early leading them to take a 16-9 lead after the first quarter.
Known to be the “best guard”, Stanley Pringle lead the game with 18 points. All the players in the line-up contributed on the offense of the game. Christian Standhardinger added 15 points, while James Yap added 12. Paul Lee scored 10 and Chris Tiu added nine.
Last Monday, Jordan was not given permission by the NBA to participate in Asian Games.
But just in time, Jordan Clarkson arrived in GBK Basketball Hall during the third quarter to personally see and support the Philippine team. The Filipinos in the crowd suddenly cheered upon his arrival.
In a previous report by KAMI, it didn’t take that long for Jordan to join the Philippine team. As confirmed by Assistant Chef de Mission Robert Bachmann, the Olympic Council of Asia and Asiad organizers allowed Jordan to participate in Asian Games.
The Philippine team is scheduled to take on China on August 21, 2018. It will also be Jordan’s debut as part of the national team.
