- The production team of “Ang Probinsyano” finally cleared the issue thrown to them
- This is after a netizen observed that the photos used in two of the teleserye’s episodes were those from the Dantes family
- The team apologized to Dingdong and his family
The production team of the top-rating teleserye, “Ang Probinsyano” finally broke its silence over the controversial use of Dingdong Dantes’ family photos.
KAMI learned that the production team of the Coco Martin-starred show apologized to Dingdong and assured the Kapuso actor that it was not their intention to offend his family.
“FPJ's Ang Probinsyano apologizes to Dingdong Dantes and his family and assures that there was no intent to disrespect or offend him and his family in the use of their photos in the program,” according to the statement released on August 14.
The production team also explained that they hired a third-party to supply the props needed for the teleserye.
“The production team commissioned a third-party contractor to create the photo props used in the program,” the team said.
“It was not aware that the original of the photographs used were those from Mr. Dantes’ wedding and the baptism of his daughter,” they added.
The statement was made after Dingdong sent a letter to the producer of “Ang Probinsyano” denouncing the unethical act of using his family’s photos not just once but twice.
“Courtesy and fair practice must always be observed especially in an established industry like ours. But whether or not it is done within the entertainment sector, we should always be reminded of the basic etiquette for online photo use and sharing that includes asking permission and/or citing sources,” Dingdong shared.
In a previous article by KAMI, a netizen first saw the photos in the teleserye’s episodes and posted the video in social media.
The first unpermitted use of Dantes’ family photo was on November 9, 2017. It was used again in the August 8 episode of the said teleserye.
