- President Duterte announced that the smuggled Hummers will be salvaged and distributed to the police and military
- This plan detours from the original action taken by the government to destroy all of the smuggled cars seized by the Bureau of Customs
- The president also mentioned that the government has been longing to use Hummer vehicles
The government inspected contraband cars on Monday, July 30, 2018, before finally subjecting them to public destruction as a way for the president to discourage smugglers.
KAMI learned that Duterte will be salvaging the seized Hummers for a greater government purpose: to be used by the police and military in their operations.
President Rodrigo Duterte knew that there were 10 Hummers left after many of the luxury cars have been destroyed.
"Para naka-Hummer na kayo. Kami ilang taon na namin ‘yan naglalaway-laway kami hindi kami maka… Tapos ‘yung mga vans, because they are within the vicinity of the local governments, Cagayan ‘yan eh. Eh ‘di paghati-hatian na lang nila doon kung aabot."
This was the statement of the president during the 68th National Security Council and 69th National Intelligence Coordinating Agency founding anniversary celebration in Pasay City.
