Before we learn about how would the SOGIE Equality Bill help the LGBT community in the Philippines, let us first know what those letters in the abbreviated word mean?

What does SOGIE stands for?

As it is clearly laid out, SOGIE stands for S*xual Orientation and Gender Identity or Expression.

How would the SOGIE Equality Bill help the LGBT community in the Philippines?

'SOGIE Equality Bill' is proposed legislation, which apparently is also known as Anti-Discrimination Bill (ADB), that is intended to protect all persons from acts of discrimination such as, and we quote:

"denial of access to public services, health services, and access to public establishments, hiring or disimissal of workers, and refusing to admit or expelling students"

based on gender identity or expressions.

Thus, well-known celebrities and personalities have come around to support the 'SOGIE Equality Bill.'

As we've reported earlier, stars like Anne Curtis, Iza Calzado, Bianca Gonzalez-Intal, and Heart Evangelista among other prominent personalities rally to support the said bill.
