Pia Wurtzbach dedicates post to beauty queens without crowns

Although Miss Universe 2015, Pia Wurtzbach, has handed down her Bb. Pilipinas crown to Maxine Medina, the beauty queen did not forget those who went home empty-handed.

That is why Pia took to Instagram to post a comforting message to those beauties who did not make it during the Bb. Pilipinas coronation night. In her post, the beauty queen reminisced about the many times she was defeated. She said the defeats helped define and push her to not give up. The post was a photo of with all of the Bb. Pilipinas 2016 candidates. However, more than the image, it was the caption that touched the hearts of many, including those who aren't wearing sashes and crowns anymore.

The caption might be long, but it contained everything a beauty pageant candidate needs to read, especially if she was not lucky enough to bring home the crown. It is a letter of inspiration, of hope, and of the importance of not backing down. The caption says:

"So I was browsing through my photos from my last trip in the Philippines and I see this. Now I know that the pageant there is over and that the winners are already busy training. But it got me thinking.. How are the rest of the girls doing? Because you know what, I've been there. I've stood behind the winner and went home empty handed on my 2nd try. My friends were there to comfort me as I kept saying "I really tried" over and over again while crying in the parking lot of the venue. I even got critized for that. But now that I'm seeing this photo.. Girls, let me tell you this. I've been there. I know the feeling of coming home and waking up in the morning realizing that there's nothing. No activity today, no training, nothing. You're basically back to square one. That's it. The pageant is over and you'll see the winners on TV everyday. And I'm not sure if it was the same for all of you, but I was heartbroken. It's okay to cry, it's okay to feel ashamed. My advice would be.. Keep yourselves busy, go to your family, take a break and think. Think about your next step. Now I mentioned this already to you before during prelims that all of this is temporary. Even my crown is temporary. But it's what you do after that's important. What did you learn? What is your passion now? What do you wanna pursue next? Or better yet, are you gonna try again? Girls, congratulations on making it this far to one of the most competitive national pageants in the world. Pageants are a huge deal in the Philippines and the girls are dedicated, studying and training like athletes. So whatever you pursue, continue to make us proud.. I've also faced disappointments before, not just in pageants but in other aspects of my life. So that pain, use it. And that goes the same with the other girls who did not make in their countries. Remember, the true measure of a queen is what she does after the pageant night.”

Wurtzbach did not win the title when she first joined Bb. Pilipinas in 2013; she only was a runner-up. However, the next year 2014, she tried again, but still came home empty-handed. Finally, on her third try in 2015, she won the crown.

Then, as the rest of the world knows, she went on to become the third Filipina to win Miss Universe on December 20, 2015.

At present, the beauty queen is busy working with different organizations to advance her advocacies. She is also traveling around the world to fulfill her duties as Miss Universe 2015.
