Gilas Pilipinas player Marc Pingris got himself in hot waters due to the selfie he took with his teammates just after they got into an ugly brawl with the Australia Boomers.
KAMI learned that the athlete has broken his silence about the controversial selfie.
The player made an apology for what he did, admitting that the timing for the selfie was wrong.
However, he said that he did not have an intention to disrespect anyone with the selfie. Marc also promised to become a better person after the unfortunate incident.
“I will do my best to conduct myself better, especially in my support of the Gilas Pilipinas National Team,” he posted.
The infamous brawl occurred during the third quarter of the game, when Australia was leading by 31 points.
When Australia’s Daniel Kickert had a physical altercation with Roger Pogoy, the other Gilas players tried to defend their teammate.
There are speculations that the Gilas team might be suspended by FIBA due to the unfortunate incident.
