The Gilas Pilipinas’s basketball game last night against the Australia Boomers has made headlines both in and out of the country due to the ugly brawl that occurred between the two teams.
However, KAMI learned that three players from team Gilas became viral sensations not for being aggressive but for being calm in the midst of chaos.
In a report by Rappler, tweets from netizens show that Junemar Fajardo, Gabe Norwood, and Baser Amer are being praised for trying to calm down the players while they were brawling with each other.
The brawl occurred during the third quarter of the game, when Australia was leading by 31 points.
When Australia’s Daniel Kickert had a physical altercation with Roger Pogoy, the other Gilas players tried to defend their teammate.
There are speculations that the Gilas team might be suspended by FIBA due to the unfortunate incident.
