- The decision was made right after fifteen senators penned down their signatures on a draft resolution in seeking for a reorganization at the 'Senate.'
- As leaves the seat, he nominated 'Majority Leader' Vicente Sotto to replace him as the 'Senate President,' which the majority of the senators agreed through their votes.
Vicente 'Tito' Sotto III gets a nomination from the former 'Senate President' to replace him on the seat.

As Pimentel leaves as the head of the house of chamber, Sotto takes the vote to take the seat.
This result came about after 15 senators affixed their signatures on a draft resolution to reorganize the 'Senate.'
On Monday, then 'Senate President' Pimentel, held a press briefing where he made the announcement and gave support to Senator Tito Sotto to replace him.
He said in the press conference:
"I am together with my colleagues in the Senate majority in this reorganization."
Pimentel expressed his gratitude for his colleagues' support.
“It has been an honor and a privilege for me to serve the Senate as its President, a position once held by my father."
In the said conference, he said that during his term as the 'Senate President,' he made an effort to mirror his father whom he remarked served the 'Senate' with dignity.
The former head of house of chamber continued:
“I served as Senate President inspired by the words of Justice JBL Reyes and guided by the principles and values of Senator Nene Pimentel. I step down knowing that I tried my best to do this."
He ended up announcing that he's nominating Senator Vicente 'Tito' Sotto III, as the new Senate President, as we quote his statement below.
"I announce that I will be the one to nominate Senator Tito Sotto III as the new Senate President today."
Nevertheless, he vowed to help with the new leadership and wished the new 'Senate President' the best.

The senators who reportedly signed the resolution are Cynthia Villar, Francis Escudero, Grace Poe, Gregorio Honasan II, Joel Villanueva, Joseph Victor Ejercito, Juan Edgardo Angara, Juan Miguel Zubiri, Loren Legarda, Manny Pacquiao, Nancy Binay, Panfilo Lacson, Ralph Recto, Richard Gordon, and Sherwin Gatchalian.

“By a majority vote of all the senators, Senator Vicente C. Sotto III is hereby elected as the new Senate President to discharge the duties and powers granted to him by the Rules of the Senate."
Nonetheless, Senator Koko Pimentel expressed his happiness of the works he has done.
