- She sang a song about heartbreak from parting ways with a partner
- The song took on a different meaning for her in light of a recent tragedy
Kyla performed about a song about heartbreak from separating with a partner.
She recently experienced a tragedy which she remembered because of the song.
During the launch of her iTunes chart-topping album, the 37-year-old performer was on stage Sunday night at Eastwood, Quezon City.
"Proper Heartbreak," one of the track from the Star Music record was about a relationship ending.
According to Kyla, the song had a different meaning for her as she had a miscarriage in March.
"Itong kanta na 'to, because of an experience na nangayri last month, it gave a different meaning to the song," she said. "Actually, noong pinapakinggan ko siya, sabi ko, 'Bakit ako umiiyak kung hindi ko naman siya na-e-experience? But naka-relate ako in a different way."
While her voice shaking, Kyla shared the news, "I know there's an angel watching over me right now."
Kyla broke into tears and paused to compose herself.
A part of the song says "I've got to let you go."
Kyla who was speaking to her audience said, "I'm sorry, guys. Minsan talaga nagiging vulnerable tayo. Medyo nakaka-embarrass. I'm sorry, guys. You can never be really ready for things like that to happen. I was never prepared, but I know there's an angel watching over me right now."
It's not clear whether the miscarriage happened in early March, or during the month's last week.
Kyla is a regular judge in "Tawag ng Tanghalan" segment of "It's Showtime." She had remained visible on television until late March, also for the promotional leg of her album. Kyla, has a 5-year-old son with husband Rich Alvarez.
