Meron daw kasing magseselos? Sheryl Cruz and Romnick Sarmenta almost reunited for 'My Guitar Princess'

Reuniting veteran love teams from the 1980s and 1990s seem to be a popular trend nowadays.

The interest in reunion projects prove to be a successful formula to draw in viewers.

PEP revealed that GMA Network wanted to cast Romnick Sarmenta and Sheryl Cruz to be husband and wife in the upcoming romance-comedy series My Guitar Princess.

The Romnick-Sheryl love team was one of the most well-loved onscreen partnership in the 1980s. Their love team earned them a number of blockbuster hits.

Sheryl agreed immediately to GMA's offer, according to PEP. In fact, she will be playing the mother of Julie Anne San Jose's lead character.

However, Romnick was a longer negotiation, said PEP.

Eventually, Romnick decided to say no to the project.

PEP asked in their Troika article why a reunion project for the Romnick-Sheryl tandem can't seem to push through.

"Come to think of it, sabi ng staff, may something ba sa Sheryl-Romnick tandem at parati raw hindi matuluy-tuluy pagsamahin sila ulit?" said Noel Ferrer in the article.

Fellow Troika writer Gorgy Rula answered Noel's question. He speculated that maybe somebody might get jealous.

"Baka kasi may selosang involved," said Gorgy in the article.

Could the writer be referring to Romnick's wife Harlene Bautista?

Elvis Soriano will be playing Sheryl's husband in the upcoming series.

My Guitar Princess will be headlined by singer-actress Julie Anne San Jose. Her leading men are Gil Cuerva and Kiko Estrada.

Other cast include Maey Bautista, Isabella De Leon, Marika Sasaki, Ralf King of One Up, and Jazz Ocampo.
